Un « capitaine des Ammonites », 1 Macc 5:6, qui fut défait en plusieurs occasions par Judas Maccabée, 164 av. J.-C. 1 Macc. 5:6,11,34-44. Il était probablement un aventurier grec. Dans 2 Macc. un chef nommé Timothée est mentionné comme ayant pris part à l'invasion de Nicanor, 166 av. J.-C. 2 Macc. 8:30 ; 9:3. Le nom grec de Timothée. (Act. 16:1 ; 17:14) etc.
