John Bate (D.D.)

Bate (ou Batus), John D.D., un savant théologien anglais, naquit en Northumberland, et fut instruit en arts à York, puis en philosophie et divinité à Oxford. Il devint ensuite prieur du monastère des Carmes à York, où il mourut le 26 janv. 1429. Outre plusieurs ouvrages sur la logique et sujets connexes, il écrivit Questions Concerning the Soul : — Of the Assumption of the Virgin : — The Praise of Divinity : — An Address to the Clergy of Oxford : — A Course of Sermons over the Whole Year : — et A Preface to the Bible.
